80th at The Résidence Palace

WHO: family

WHAT: identity, invitation, illustration

No-one of the Polak family (close & far) could break with the tradition of making their 80th birthday in a place build by our Grand-grand father: Michel Polak, the famous Belgian/Swiss architect. Francoise’ daughter gave me the fine mission to design a nice roaring twenties invitation for her mum birthday that will be hosted at “the Résidence Palace” in Brussels. The invitation is a tryptic, being open like a “secret door” on a new world. The front side is built in the art deco style using patterns composing the fountain mosaic and some shapes from the pool of the Résidence - with Francoise & Jean Jacques young portrait giving a nice vintage style to remember the good time. While open the invitation, you will dive into the Pompeian style swimming pool (still existing nowadays but not in good condition). On both sides, the light pattern in background refers again to the fountain mosaic and shapes. On the back is placed an old representation of the famous building. The light & dark blue refers to the colour swatch of the fountain in association with a gold colour referring to luxury, love & magic of the Roaring Twenties. Proud to be Michel Polak’s distant descendants!! I wish I could have met him in another world
